Profil 2

The Slow Traveller

You avoid tourist traps. You want authentic addresses, places without queues, restaurants where locals eat. Le Carnet is my signed editorial selection — not algorithm-generated restaurants, but places I've been, tested, and would recommend to a friend.

Profil 3

The Motorcyclist / Cyclist

Passes, altitude profiles, fuel stops, mountain weather, water sources — you need serious practical info, not a family guide. Le Carnet includes altitude profiles of passes, distances between fuel stops, and moto/bike-friendly accommodations tested by the author.

Behind Le Carnet

H

Hi, I'm Hervé

Author · Via Pirineo

I've been traveling in the Pyrenees for 15 years. Both sides, the Principality of Andorra, valleys that look alike and those that look like nothing else. Via Pirineo is my travel journal — not a generic guide. I only write about stages I've done, I only recommend hotels where I've slept, restaurants where I've eaten. When you read the Carnet, you're reading my 15 years on the mountain range, condensed.

info Transparence · Affiliation

Some links to Booking.com included in Le Carnet are affiliate links. If you book via these links, Booking returns us a small commission — without changing your price. This is what finances Le Carnet's updates without raising its price. My editorial selection is independent: recommended hotels are chosen on quality criteria, not commercial ones.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you ask us

What exactly is this Carnet?

A PDF of around 200 pages covering the entire Grand Circuit Via Pirineo: 14 stages over 15-16 days, both sides of the Pyrenees + the Principality of Andorra. Inside: my selection of tested hotels and restaurants, my secret spots, step-by-step hiking guides, elevation profiles of the passes, and the editorial tone signed "I've been there".

It's neither a generic tourist guide nor a compilation of Wikipedia pages. It's my travel notebook, formatted.

Why a PDF and not a mobile app?

Three reasons: a PDF prints, works offline (essential in the mountains where the network drops), and doesn't die with your smartphone or an editor's end of support. You buy it once, it stays yours forever, in your Dropbox, on your Kindle, on paper.

An app also costs 5 to 10 times more to maintain — which would push the price well above €9.90.

How many pages in Le Carnet?

Around 200 pages in A5 format, designed to be readable on screen as well as in print. The table of contents is clickable, chapters are indexed, and external links (maps, tourist office sites, hotels) are active if you read the PDF on a screen.

What languages is it in?

The first edition of Le Carnet is in French. Spanish, Catalan and English versions are coming soon. If you buy the French version and a translation is released, you'll get a preferential rate to switch to another language (but not free — these are distinct editorial editions, not simple automated translations).

Can I get a refund?

In accordance with article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code, by downloading the PDF you expressly waive your right of withdrawal. That's why we offer you a free preview of 4-5 pages before purchase: try first, buy then.

If after reading you find a factual error (wrong phone number, closed address), write to us: we correct it and you receive the updated version for free.

What happens after 12 months?

For 12 months after purchase, all Le Carnet updates are sent to you automatically by email (corrections, closing hotels, new addresses, etc.).

After 12 months, you can repurchase the new annual version at preferential rate — much like a Routard guide you buy again each year when addresses have changed. But the version you bought remains yours for life.

How do I receive the PDF?

Immediately after payment, by email. A download link valid for several days (downloadable multiple times). If you lose the link, contact us: we'll send it again to the same email address.

Do you get a commission through Booking?

Yes, some hotel links in Le Carnet are Booking.com affiliate links. If you book via these links, Booking returns us approximately 4% commission — without changing your price. This commission funds Le Carnet's annual update.

Important : my editorial selection is independent. The recommended hotels are based on qualitative criteria (which I've tested, or which trusted travellers have shared with me). No hotel pays to appear. None pays to be left out.
